Delete as an investment

Delete is one of the leading environmental full-service providers in the Nordic countries. The Group offers business-critical services that require specialist competences and specialized equipment through three business segments:

  • Industrial Cleaning Services
  • Demolition Services (Assets held for sale)
  • Recycling Services.

Delete Group Oyj was established in 2010 by a combination of two leading Finnish companies, Toivonen Yhtiöt Oy and Tehoc Oy. Tehoc Oy was a leading provider of industrial cleaning services and Toivonen Yhtiöt Oy was a leading provider of demolition services and waste processing. The merger of these two companies was backed up by a Finnish private equity house Intera Partners and it was followed by active consolidation of the Finnish market through acquisitions of local players in both industrial cleaning and demolition.

Delete Group Oyj entered the Swedish market in 2012 through the acquisition of Sanvac Miljö AB, a company focusing on industrial cleaning. In August 2013, Delete Group Oyj was acquired by a Nordic private equity house Axcel. Axcel’s investment rationale was to further grow the business, both organically and through acquisitions in Finland and Sweden. Since the acquisition by Axcel, the Group has continued to grow both organically and through acquisitions.

Delete has continued the roll-up of the Swedish market by acquiring strong local industrial cleaning companies mainly on the North-Eastern coast of Sweden, where a significant portion of the Swedish industry is located. In 2018 Delete acquired the industrial cleaning services specialist Waterjet Karlstad as well as Waterjet Stockholm and W-tech, which specialise in the demolition and maintenance of infrastructure.

A few Finnish companies have also been acquired under Axcel’s ownership. The latest major acquisitions were a group of industrial cleaning and sewer service companies in Finland closed in late 2017: Uudenmaan Erikoispuhdistus Oy, T&K Karppanen Oy and Kaivopumppu M Kulmala Oy with its subsidiaries Tekno Puhto Oy and Sertech Oy. In 2018 Delete acquired the lift dismantling specialist Karhupurku Oy.

Since 2011, the Group has made 34 acquisitions within the industrial cleaning and demolition segments. These strategic acquisitions aim to further strengthen Delete Group’s position as the leading provider of environmental services in the Nordic countries. According to the management of the Group, the market leading position in Finland and the well-established presence in Sweden, ensure that the Group is well positioned to provide stellar service to existing and future clients.

Delete has divested its Demolition business in Sweden in two parts. Heavy Demolition AB was divested on 5 March 2020 and Special Demolition AB on 13 March 2020 and the divestment process for Demolition Services operations in Finland is ongoing.
